Michaelmas Term in Review: Fall Break in NYC!!
Every month or so, the Ridley campus closes down for a short break. Check out this blurb from Mr. Martinez recapping a trip to New York City!!
A great group of students travelled to NYC this November break. The students truly embodied our school values and spirit in the big apple. The trip was enjoyed by all and students enjoyed such sites as Times Square, walking across the Brooklyn bridge, the United Nations building, Pier 17, Wall St, Central Park, shopping on fifth avenue, and SOHO. Ms. Whitty and Mr. Martinez would like to thank all the students who truly made the trip an enjoyable and memorable experience. Furthermore, a big thank you to Mrs. Whitty and all those who made the trip a reality.

Campus Watch: 9 Lessons and Carols
The annual 9 Lessons and Carols service was held over the weekend at Memorial Chapel. Students and parents filled the chapel to hear Christmas readings and carols. The Christmas spirit was truly ignited by the service. The entrance of the choir under candle light was a beautiful way to begin and the readings and carols reminded those in attendance of what Christmas is all about. This year there was a special performance of the song, "When a Child is Born" by Ridley parent Ciro Dammico (alias Zacar). Dammico wrote the melody of the song in 1974 and words were added by Fred Jay. The song was first made famous in 1976 by Johnny Mathis. Recently, Andrea Bocelli has made the song popular again. It was a treat to hear the song in the Memorial Chapel this year. If you didn't attend this year, make a point to come next year as it is a great way to get into the Christmas spirit! Happy Holidays!

In his words: Why are you a tour guide?
I'm a grade 12 Prefect at Ridley. This is my 4th year at the school, and 4th year of loving it! When I was not completely convinced in coming to Ridley, my tour guide was very friendly, helpful, and fun, and he ultimately was my decision making factor. I am a tour guide so I can help people see how amazing this school is!
Michaelmas Term in Review: Snake Dance!
Noticing a theme to several of the Admissions Assistants pictures? Wondering why everyone seems to be painted in Orange and Black? Check out this video from Shaun H. describing Ridley's biggest spirit tradition! Go Blacks Go!
Michaelmas Term in Review: Camp!
The first few days at Ridley, the girls and guys separate to go to two different camps. The girls go to Camp White Pine and the guys head to Camp Onondaga. Camp is pretty fun and the food and cabins are awesome too. We went zip lining, sailing, canoeing, and hung out on the docks with new friends and housemates. It's a really good way to get to know people before school gets started.
Michaelmas Term in Review: ISOC!

Ridley is home to students from over 30 countries. Our new International students made the trek to St. Catharines a few days early to settle in to the campus, meet some of the faculty, and discover some of the amazing sights in the Niagara Region!

Meet the Admissions Assistants!
Alisa D.
Quick Facts:
Class of 2010
Day Student
House: Mandeville
My name is Alisa and I am a day student at Ridley. I live just outside St. Catharines in the small city of Thorold, Ontario. This year is not only my fourth year at Ridley but it is also my graduating year! During my time at Ridley, I've found myself playing second tier ice hockey, field hockey, and soccer along with being on the cross country and track and field teams. I'm also working towards getting my gold Duke of Ed award which means a lot of community service! Some of my community service includes Big Bunch, a group within Big Brothers Big Sisters. Big Bunch is a group of students my age who get together once a month and plan fun things to do with younger kids from the organization.
I really like to travel, especially to the heat! During my third term in grade 10, I was granted an awesome oppurtunity to exchange to Sydney, Australia! I made some really good friends!
Outside of school, my favorite ways to spend time are snowboarding and spending time with my friends and family. Oh yeah, in the picture, I'm the one in light blue on the top right.

Meet the Admissions Assistants!
Quick Facts:
Name: Cathy D.
Grade: Class of 2011
Day Student from Niagara On The Lake, Ontario
Photo Caption: Getting Ready for Snake Dance!
In My Own Words:
My name is Cathy D. and this is my second year at Ridley. I am currently a day student in grade 11 and I am planning on graduating from Ridley. Both my brothers are OR’s (Old Ridleians) as well.
I am always busy and I find it hard to say that I have free time. For sports, I am currently on the 1st Gymnastics Team and we are preparing for our competition season starting in February. I am also involved with four activities at the moment those being: Roots and Shoots, Team Life Savers, Admissions Assistant and the Fashion Show. The Fashion Show is actually a new event this year that I helped create! We are raising money for Out of the Cold (http://www.outinthecold.ca) in order to buy clothing for children.
On the academic side of things, I mainly focus on the arts. I love Media and Studio Arts, I won an award last year in Studio Art. Also, I am taking Design Technology, which is a great course as a substitute for a science, if, like me, you are going into an art or design based stream in university.
Being a day student, I never really find myself at home, but the advantage about going to Ridley and getting involved in everything you want to is that, it is all in the school, so there is no need to drive a bunch of different places to do the things you love; it is all on one campus!
Ridley is truly a place that you can make your own. You can create great memories, get involved in anything you like and really make the most out of your high school years.
